Striped shorts

I was at the mall with Frank in search for a pair of red pants…for him.   Yes, he’s not only amazing, but stylish too 🙂   As soon as we walked into J Crew, I spotted these beauties.  Frank’s pants took a back seat for a second.   As much as I swore I wouldn’t buy anything full price anymore, I just couldn’t resist taking these striped beauties home.   To “even” things out, I bought a few other items on sale…that counts, right?

I LOVE anything in stripes.  Tell me, is there any specific pattern that makes you break your shopping rules?

Trend of the Month Link Up – Colorful Blazers

I’m so excited to be linking up with one of my blogger besties, Marion from Marionberry Style.  I love blazers, but mostly I love colorful blazers.   They can instantly brighten up any outfit!   This dress doesn’t need much brightening up but what the heck!  🙂

The Difference a Light Makes – Entryway Progresss

Slowly but surely, I’m making progress towards putting the finishing touches on my house.  My latest focus has been on the entryway — after all, it’s the first room that people walk into when they visit our home.  So, I want it to be welcoming, but also functional. This is where we started — I actually made a video and put it on my now abandoned tumblr almost two years ago.  Check that out here.  Since then, we’ve painted, added a rug and some furniture and just this week, changed the lighting.  I actually pinned this Uttermost drum pendant on Pinterest quite a while ago and was lucky to find it at a discounted price at a local lighting store.

Here is the lighting before and after.

I love lighting, and I think it makes such a huge difference in a room.  Still, there are quite a few things left to do in the foyer before I consider it finished.

Here is my running list:

Fringe Skirt

Hello lovely readers, happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend, I sure did.  Spent time with friends, family and my amazing boyfriend.   This is what I wore for my Saturday night date with Frank.  I have to admit, I really didn’t thing I would jump on the fringe trend until I spotted this awesome skirt at Zara a few weeks ago.  It spent about a week in the original shopping bag by my door ready to be returned, but I changed my mind.   I guess you can say, it kinda grew on me.

What do you think, will you be trying out this trend?

I couldn’t help it…just had to 🙂

I Really LOVE MY…

Rebecca Minkoff bag.  OK, If I were a celebrity (which sometimes I think I am)  I think that People Style Watch would feature me on their I Really LOVE MY segment because I’ve worn the heck out of this bag.  Since I’m not a celebrity, my hopes of being featured are probably slim to none so I’ve decided to feature me on MY blog.  There People Style, I don’t need you.  OK, kidding, I actually love your magazine 🙂

To think that I almost didn’t get this bag.  I contemplated it all the way up to the counter!

What have you worn to death?

Heat Wave Fash

It’s hot here in the Northeast.  Like, fry an egg on the sidewalk, hot.  Fortunately, I’m working from home today and I can get away with shorts.  However, in case I have any video conferences, I like to look somewhat professional from the waist up.  I recently picked up these adorable cotton/linen blend BB Dakota shorts from shopbop that are perfect for this weather.  I paired them with a very light pink, gauze top which allowed me to stay covered on top but still very cool.  I imagined some rose gold sandals with this outfit but I haven’t made that acquisition yet so I settled for leopard flats.  I love the combo of jade green and light pink and am so glad to stay fresh in this blistering heat. How do you stay cool during heat waves?

Head to toe – The Webster

As you all know, Cat and I are were really big fans of The Target shops, especially The Webster.  Check out Cat’s review here.  We even bought the same shoes!   I decided to wear mine this past weekend to Father’s Day dinner with the family.  Of course, I had to throw on my RM bag.  I just love that little thing!  I’m obsessed.

What item in your closet are you obsessed with?

I’m linking up with The Pleated Poppy and A Little Bit of Lacquer

5 Minute Look

I hope it’s not obvious but this look was a combination of my laziest efforts.  There is no outfit that is more versatile and as much of a no-brainer as a DVF wrap dress.  Whenever my brain hurts too much to create a fabulous outfit, I default to one of the DVF wrap dresses that I’ve accumulated over the years.  If you follow us on facebook, you know that Diana and I went to the DVF sample sale a few weeks ago — one of our yearly, sister-bonding traditions.  This year, I was lucky enough to score this fabulous coral and mint printed dress.  So when I got up and realized it was Monday, and that it was cold, and that I was completely uninspired, I turned to this bright dress for comfort.  But the laziness did not stop there folks.  I also employed my laziest hair style — the sock bun. — Great tutorial for that here – from Wendy’s Lookbook.

So, there you have it folks — I hope that even though it was lazy, it worked.  What’s your lazy day regime?

Not Skinny Jeans

I feel like all I wear these days are skinny jeans.  Somehow, I’ve forgotten about the very flattering boot cut (flare leg) jean.  I decided to pull these puppies out of the bottom of the jean pile.  Poor little forgotten guys.  I wore this out to a date night with Frank and he loved the look.

What do you think?  Have you forgotten about your old pair of jeans?
