Yes, I know today is Monday, but this is what I wore to the office on Friday. I normally don’t wear jeans to the office, however being that it was the last day of our fiscal year, I needed to be as comfortable as possible. A little update on that craziness, I made it! Lots of blood sweat and tears and I overachieved on my goal. It was a monster number folks, but I had a great team by my side to help me get there. Now it’s the beginning of the year and we’re all back to the beginning of the race. If any of you are in sales, you know how I’m feeling right now. I’ll be taking a little time off to recharge my batteries and get ready to hit the ground running on Monday.

Sorry for the late post today guys. I spent my morning blogging hour cheering and jeering (though mostly jeering) the Emmy nominations that were announced this morning. If you’ve ever seen my personal twitter feed, you know that I’m a tv-holic, so it’s no surprise that I have very strong opinions about the nominations. I’m super psyched about the Homeland noms, although I think their only winner will be Claire Danes, and I’m OVER THE MOON for the Max Greenfield nom for New Girl, though he’ll most likely lose. Seriously guys — Schmidt is the best new character of 2012. Also, I’m accustomed to sci-fi getting snubbed since BtVS but seriously, how could the Emmy voters possibly ignore the awesomeness of John Noble in Fringe this season — or every other season. And I won’t even get into the snubbing of John Slattery for Mad Men, Emmy Rossum for Shameless, Joel McHale and the rest of the Community team, and Madeline Stowe and the Revenge folks. Sigh. Okay, rant over.
Now lets get into today’s outfit. In an effort to force my self to get creative (and save some money), I’ve reduced my spending budget for clothing. So, I pulled out this skirt, that’s been sitting in the back of my closet, for 4 years, never worn. At first I thought it would be boring worn with black but the pattern of the skirt is so bold I think the black balances it out. What do you think? I’m pretty embarrassed to admit that this was sitting in my closet for so long, with tags on it just collecting dust. What’s the oldest item with tags hanging in your closet right now?
I got this dress at the latest DVF Sample sale! You all know how much I love the DVF sample sales. I almost didn’t post it because it looks like the camera doesn’t love this pattern too much. I think it’s fun and unexpected. I decided to throw on my fave yellow shoes for an additional pop.
What do you think, yellow shoes too much?
I hope it’s not obvious but this look was a combination of my laziest efforts. There is no outfit that is more versatile and as much of a no-brainer as a DVF wrap dress. Whenever my brain hurts too much to create a fabulous outfit, I default to one of the DVF wrap dresses that I’ve accumulated over the years. If you follow us on facebook, you know that Diana and I went to the DVF sample sale a few weeks ago — one of our yearly, sister-bonding traditions. This year, I was lucky enough to score this fabulous coral and mint printed dress. So when I got up and realized it was Monday, and that it was cold, and that I was completely uninspired, I turned to this bright dress for comfort. But the laziness did not stop there folks. I also employed my laziest hair style — the sock bun. — Great tutorial for that here – from Wendy’s Lookbook.
So, there you have it folks — I hope that even though it was lazy, it worked. What’s your lazy day regime?
This past weekend was absolutely perfect in NYC. The BF and I decided to spend the day shopping in Soho. He was feeling generous so he bought me a super cute top at Topshop. Gosh, I love my boyfriend. Sorry, mushy moment.
Onto the outfit, I bought this skirt at a DFV sample sale a few years ago. While it’s such a cute skirt, I’ve only worn it a couple of times because I categorized it as one of my “dressy” skirts. Here’s how I wore it in the past (1 and 2 ) In an effort to wear this awesome piece more than twice a year, I decided to take it out for a casual spin. Well, somewhat casual, Frank thought I was super dressed up. Here’s what I came up with. I threw on a cotton tank with a linen blazer and put on my cute Zara flats. I added on a few light accessories. What do you think?
How do you create a casual look with a dressy piece?
Times like this I wish I had kids….a little girl to be exact. In honor of today’s DVF for Gap Kids launch, I’m wearing one fo my favorite DFV dresses. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I have a HUGE obsession for DVF. I love every single piece in my collection!!! I’m very much considering picking up a dress and putting it away for when I have a little girl…ha ha!
Are you going to check out the DVF collection? Do you have a little princess to shop for? This one is my favorite.

Besides being super conservative with my jewelry (something I’m working on), I’m also very conservative with my make-up. I like to stick to neutrals and bronzes on my lids and almost never wear any color on my lips. I was feeling a little edgy and wanted to add some toughness to this delicate little skirt.
